NVDECS Foundation achieves its mission by providing community outreach
programs, educational scholarships, community forums, community
service and financial support.
NVDECS Mission
The NVDECS Foundation's mission is to make a positive difference in the
community we serve by playing a supportive role in providing
educational, scientific, civic, literary and charitable programs for
the Northern Virginia community. Our priorities for building,
strengthening, and supporting the community include:
- Providing annual educational scholarships to students
who reside in the Northern Virginia areas of Alexandria,
Arlington, Falls Church, and
Fairfax City.
- Enhancing academic excellence and achievement by providing students training, tutoring and mentoring.
- Fostering a love of reading by providing positive reading
opportunities for youth in the communities we serve.
- Promoting youth development activities designed to equip
elementary students with skills necessary to pass State-mandated
tests and enhance reading and math comprehension, prevent
teenage pregnancies, introduce middle school girls to diverse
career options, and encourage high school graduation and
enrollment in postsecondary education programs.
- Promoting and providing health and educational services and
social activities for senior citizens.
- Promoting economic and financial literacy to all age groups
in the community.
- Exposing youth and adults to cultural programs and
activities.
