Greetings friends and supporters!

As we embark on our 20th anniversary, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to you for embracing our mission.

With your generous support over the last 20 years, we have made an impact in the Northern Virginia community. Through our partnership with the Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter (NoVAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., we have built, strengthened, and supported the community by:

  • Providing annual educational scholarships to students who reside in the Northern Virginia areas of Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, and Fairfax City.
  • Fostering a love of reading by providing age appropriate new books to youth throughout the year.
  • Promoting youth development activities designed to equip elementary and middle school students with skills necessary to pass State-mandated tests and enhance reading and math comprehension.
  • Funding programs that introduce middle school girls to diverse career options and encourage high school graduation and enrollment in postsecondary education programs.
  • Sponsoring health and educational services and social activities for senior citizens. Introducing youth and adults to cultural programs and activities.
  • Promoting economic and financial literacy to all age groups.

To commemorate the milestone of our 20th anniversary, we are proud to sponsor the 2011-2012 Jabberwock Program in partnership with the Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter (NoVAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. This community favorite engages female youth between the ages of 13 – 18 in a nine-month enrichment program designed to promote academic excellence, community service, and cultural enrichment. At the conclusion of the program, the Jabberwock participants will have an opportunity to receive scholarship awards during the Cotillion Gala. If you would like to help us make an even bigger impact in the Northern Virginia community in this our 20th year, please consider making a tax-free donation or becoming a Jabberwock sponsor. For more information on how you can support our signature event, please contact us at info@nvdecs.org.

On behalf of all of the youth, students, senior citizens, and residents of Northern Virginia that have benefited from our community services, we salute you for your generous donations and support.

With sincere gratitude,

Fawn F. Coleman
